    General & Miscellaneous

General and miscellaneous agreements is the catch-all category for private contracts that don't fit any of the other 26 categories on ChuktiQ. It includes everything from a household chore agreement between family members, to a settlement of a personal dispute, to a hobby-club fee-collection arrangement, to a private neighbour agreement about shared driveway use — the enormous variety of one-off contracts that Bangladeshi households and small groups actually sign day-to-day. Because these are so varied, there is no one 'standard' template that fits all of them; the point of the category is to give you a flexible bilingual draft that captures the essentials — who, what, when, how much, what happens if — even for the situations we couldn't anticipate.

Stamp & registrationMost miscellaneous personal contracts are governed by the general Contract Act, 1872 — the same offer / acceptance / consideration / lawful-object rules that apply to any Bangladeshi contract. Most run on Tk. 300 non-judicial stamp with at least one witness. If your specific situation touches a regulated area (family, land, labour, health, financial services), the general template in this category is a starting point for discussion, not a substitute for a category-specific document or legal advice.

    Frequently asked questions

How enforceable is a general written agreement between neighbours or family members?
Fully enforceable under the Contract Act, 1872, provided the essentials of a contract are present: a clear offer, an acceptance, some consideration (which does not need to be money — mutual promises count), lawful object, and parties competent to contract. A signed and witnessed written agreement is a very strong document in a civil suit — the personal or informal relationship of the parties does not weaken its legal effect. The catch, in practice, is enforcement: family and neighbour disputes are almost always better settled through mediation than by suing, even when the paperwork is watertight.
When should I NOT use the general template and use a category-specific one instead?
Whenever the arrangement touches a specifically-regulated area of law — anything to do with land (use the land-property category), rent (house-residential or shop-commercial), a loan of money (loan-financial), an employment (employment-work), a marriage or family matter (family-marriage), medical treatment (health-medical), or a regulated financial product (insurance). Those areas have specific rules that a generic contract won't reflect, and getting the format wrong can defeat the purpose. Use the general category for genuinely one-off, personal, non-regulated arrangements.
