Vehicle & Transport
Vehicle and transport agreements cover the whole spectrum of moving-things contracts in Bangladesh — a private motorcycle sale between two people, a CNG / auto-rickshaw daily-hire arrangement, a truck / pickup purchase, a car lease, a boat or launch hire for river routes, a rickshaw / van agreement, a ride-share driver agreement, or a goods-transport (logistics) contract. Because vehicles are registered assets that change ownership through the BRTA and often carry a loan / hypothecation, the written agreement's job is to fix the price, the exact chassis / engine details, the transfer of the registration book, the treatment of any outstanding loan, and the split of duties (tax, fitness, insurance) between the parties until the transfer goes through.

Frequently asked questions
- Does signing the vehicle sale agreement make me the legal owner?
- No. Ownership of a registered vehicle in Bangladesh transfers only when the BRTA registration is updated to the buyer's name. Until that happens, the seller remains the legal owner in the government record — which means (a) the seller could be liable for any accident or traffic offence the buyer commits with the vehicle, and (b) the buyer's title is vulnerable if the seller has any undisclosed loan against the vehicle. Make the completion of BRTA transfer a condition precedent to the balance payment.
- What happens if the vehicle turns out to have an outstanding loan?
- A vehicle that is hypothecated to a bank cannot be freely sold — the bank's charge on the vehicle survives the sale unless the loan is cleared or the bank consents to substitution. Always request an up-to-date BRTA report showing any hypothecation, and either make loan-clearance a condition precedent to sale or route the sale through the bank so the transfer of ownership happens at the same time as loan repayment.
